Ukiah WineriesWelcome to our Ukiah wineries page, The Indians called this area Yokayo, which means Deep Valley or South Valley. The Anglos who came to the area changed the spelling to Ukiah. It is the seat of Mendocino County. It was first settled by Samuel Lowry who came here in 1856. Area attractions include Lake Mendocino is nearby for boating and fishing and of course the Ukiah wineries. The Skunk Train is 24 miles to the north in Willits. The Montgomery Redwoods are also nearby
