The state was home to a wine industry in the 19th century that was crushed when Prohibition was introduced in the early 20th century. The modern Tennessee wine industry focuses on French hybrid grapes, which are more resistant to the fungal grapevine diseases that thrive in Tennessee's humid climate. Most of the wineries in the state are located in the eastern half of Tennessee. A small portion of the Mississippi Delta AVA, a designated American Viticultural Area extends into the southwestern part of the state.

Centerville is a town in Hickman County, It is probably best known for being the hometown of country comedian Minnie Pearl. Minnie Pearl was the stage name of Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon(October 25, 1912 - March 4, 1996)

Crossville area

Crossville has its roots in the intersection of a branch of the Great Stage Road, which connected the Knoxville area with the Nashville area, and the Kentucky Stock Road, a cattle drovers' path connecting Middle Tennessee with Kentucky and later extending to Chattanooga. These two roads roughly paralleled modern US-70 and US-127, respectively. Around 1800, an early settler named Samuel Lambeth opened a store at this junction, and the small community that developed around it became known as Lambeth's Crossroads. The store was located at the modern intersection of Main Street and Stanley Street, just south of the courthouse. By the time a post office was established in the 1830s, the community had taken the name of "Crossville."

Gatlinburg area

Extensive logging in the early 1900s led conservationists to call for federal action, Congress passed the Weeks Act in 1911 to allow for the purchase of land for national forests. which paved the way for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that opened in 1934. On the night of July 14, 1992, Gatlinburg gained national attention when an entire city block burned to the ground, due to faulty wiring in a light fixture. The Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum was consumed by the fire, along with an arcade, haunted house, and souvenir shop. The blaze was fortunately stopped before it could consume the adjacent 32-story Gatlinburg Space Needle.The block, known to locals as "Rebel Corner", was completely rebuilt and reopened to visitors in 1995.

Goodlettsville is a city in Davidson and Sumner counties. Goodlettsville was incorporated as a city in 1958, Patsy Cline, singer, lived here from 1961 until her premature death in 1963.

Jackson area

Settlement of Jackson began along the Forked Deer River before 1820. Originally named Alexandria, Jackson was renamed in 1822 to honor General Andrew Jackson, later President of the United States. Jackson was also home to Casey Jones, the Illinois Central engineer who, before colliding with a stalled freight train near Vaughn, Mississippi, told his fireman to jump to safety but himself died at the throttle, saving the lives of his passengers. also football player Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Isaac Burton Tigrett, the founder of the Hard Rock Cafe lived here . The first Hard Rock Cafe in the United States east of the Mississippi was located in Jackson's Old Hickory Mall.

Jamestown area

The City of Jamestown was established in 1828, a few years after the County of Fentress was established in 1823. Fentress County and the City of Jamestown are so named for the prominent local politician James Fentress (1763-1843), Before the founding of Jamestown, the area was known as "Sand Springs" for the many bubbling springs located within the city. The last remaining spring is located within the Mark Twain City Park just northeast of the county courthouse. This spring provided water to John M. Clemens, father of Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain), and his family before they moved to Missouri. Mr. Clemens served as the first circuit court clerk.

kingsport area

First chartered in 1822, Kingsport became an important shipping port on the Holston River. Re-chartered in 1917, known as the The Long Island of the Holston River, is an island in the Holston River at Kingsport. The Long Island was a sacred council and treaty site among the Cherokee. Daniel Boone began from here to clear the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap in 1775.

Millington area

Millington is home to the Naval Support Activity Mid-South (NAVSUPPACT) naval base, one of the largest single employers in the state of Tennessee, with approximately 6000 military, civilian and contractor employees on 1,950 acres. The naval base hosts many tenant organizations, notably the Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS). Formerly known as the Naval Air Station (NAS) Memphis, a major technical training center for the United States Navy and Marine Corps comprising over 3,800 acres, the 1993 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)Commission report resulted in significant changes to the base's mission and its redesignation in 1995 as the Naval Support Activity Memphis. The airfield was turned over to the city of Millington, which is now the Millington Regional Jetport. In 1998, the name of the naval base was changed to the Naval Support Activity Mid-South to better reflect its current mission and the Navy's approach to regionalization.

Monteagle area

Monteagle is most famous for the treacherous stretch of Interstate 24 that passes through the town. It is here that the highway passes the mountain of the same name, The Monteagle, a major landmark on the road between Chattanooga and Nashville. The interstate regularly shuts down in inclement weather, routing traffic onto U.S. Highway 41. In the Jerry Reed song "The Legend", which is the opening track in the film Smokey and the Bandit, Reed tells the story of the Bandit miraculously surviving brake failure on the "Monteagle Grade."

Murfreesboro area

In 1811, the Tennessee State Legislature established a county seat for Rutherford County. The town was first named "Cannonsburgh" after politician Newton Cannon, but was soon renamed "Murfreesboro" for Revolutionary War hero Colonel Hardy Murfree, later the great-grandfather of author Mary Noailles Murfree. On December 31, 1862, the Battle of Stones River, also called the Battle of Murfreesboro, was fought near Murfreesboro. This was a major engagement of the American Civil War. After the battle, Murfreesboro was used as a supply depot for the Union Army. Stones River National Battlefield is now an historical site.
